Well I have found out there are bubbles and then there are really big nasty bubbles. I just worked on the really big nasty kind. In my naivete I thought I could put a sheet of clear thin glass over some 1/4" frit. Well I did do it however a lot of air was trapped and then expanded in the clear layer. I had bubbles 3/4" size. They did not quite break through to the surface but almost. They are definately defects. So I gound them out and then sandblasted the edges and the entire surface, then I flipped the piece upside down on the kiln shelf and fired it. The holes filled up with the existing glass. It left just a little residue so I could see where the holes used to be.
